GVW created an African research environment for integrated screening and early treatment of infectious diseases to which women in resource-poor environments have an increased vulnerability, such as schistosomiasis, HPV and HIV.
Our assignment
GVW was asked to build a platform that interacts with databases from multiple sources and tools for evidence generation. The FDMP was to be enabled through GVW’s Real World Evidence (RWE) platform and was to be used to improve health care by facilitating reliable RWE generation using observational patient data.

Results
This project resulted in:
- Databases with de-identified and standardised patient data.
- Improved disease control programs and healthcare quality improvement.
- As a primary outcome schistosomiasis re-infection rate was assessed.
- Prevalence and incidence were evaluated as secondary outcomes.
This platform will contribute to improved capabilities of NTC control programmes in resource-poor settings in Africa.
